BBC To Show Two-part QUEEN Documentary

A two-part documentary on Queen is to be show on BBC TV at the end of this month.

"Queen: Days Of Our Lives", features Brian May and Roger Taylor speaking about the band’s history and celebrating  their 40th anniversary.

Both programmes  are an hour long and will include previously unseen footage, including the band’s first ever TV appearance, which was thought to have been erased.
In 1971 four university students got together to form the band Queen and 40 years later, they have released 26 albums and sold over 300 million records worldwide. BBC Two presents an in-depth two-part documentary, A Certain Band Called Queen. The popularity of Freddie Mercury, Brian May, Roger Taylor and John Deacon is at an all time high and this BBC Two documentary explores the remarkable story of these individuals, looking into the early struggles, huge obstacles, success, arguments, breakups, triumph, tragedy and an enduring legacy – all against a backdrop of brilliant music and stunning live performances. With an extensive archive of unseen footage, the documentary is the band's story in their own words – a compelling journey told with intelligence, wit, plenty of humour and painful honesty.

JON LORD To Record A Studio Version Of "Concerto For Group And Orchestra"

Former Purple keyboard player, JON LORD, is planning a studio recording of Deep Purple's, "Concerto For Group And Orchestra", which was originally performed by the band in 1969 at the Royal Albert Hall.

Lord is to work with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra on this new version.

Lord commented...
"Over these last years since leaving Deep Purple, I've played it over 30 times with different orchestras and conductors all over the world, and, of course, in 2000 I did it well over 30 times with Purple on the Concerto tour, so I've been honing the piece live on stage, and I've had the opportunity to change things in the score that weren't sounding quite right. t is therefore a marvellous and exciting prospect to have the definitive recording of the definitive version of the score."
Contrary to rumours on other websites, no other Deep Purple members (current or former) are involved in the recording says Lord's website.
The musicians who are involved will be announced in due course.

LACUNA COIL Begin Recording New Album

Italian hard metal band LACUNA COIL has entered the studio to begin recording the follow-up to 2009's "Shallow Life".

The, as yet untitled, album will be released in the Autumn via Century Media Records and will once again be produced by Don Gilmore.

Lacuna Coil's Vocalist, Andrea Ferro, commented...

This time around music has been our refuge from some of the darkest days of our life and that's why the new songs have such a variety of feelings... some stuff is pretty angry, probably the heaviest we've ever written, some other songs are intense, loaded with velvet dark emotions and there's even a little space for some light at the end of the tunnel

People are asking me if we're going back to our roots or if we're taking another step forward in a new direction... Well, to be honest I just feel that this is 100 percent a Lacuna Coil record and that is what really matters to me. I just love the songs and we felt a big wave of inspiration. The energy with Don in the studio is sky-high and we're ready to kick some ass.
Lacuna Coil will be answering weekly fan-submitted questions about the new album at the band's official fan site, EmptySpiral.net.

After the recording sessions have been completed the band will spend the Summer performing at a select number of European festivals, including Greenfield, Graspop Metal Meeting and Sonisphere in Spain.

Gilmour played "Comfortably Numb" with Waters, while both he and Mason appeared for "Outside The Wall".

However, this is not a signal for a full-blown Floyd re-formation as Gilmour subsequently posted on his website...
“I should also remind you that tonight is most definitely a one-off; David is not repeating his special guest performance at a later occasion, I’m sorry to disappoint those of you with fingers crossed and tickets for later shows.”
