WITHIN TEMPTATION Postpone European Tour

WITHIN TEMPTATION
WITHIN TEMPTATION, Vocalist Sharon den Adel has released the following statement about the postponement of the band's forthcoming European tour...
As we are all gearing up for the release of our new album I have news which might come as a surprise: Robert and I are expecting a child. To be honest, this was not planned at all, but we're very happy about it as we experience our kids as an enrichment of our lives.

I'm happy to tell you that the release of our new album will not change: March 2011! The recordings for the album are completed and the songs are being mixed right now, all preparations for the release are in full swing, so there is no reason to put things on hold.

However, we couldn't avoid rescheduling our tour as it will be impossible for me to deliver a great show for you while being in the final months of my pregnancy. Also due to the complications during the previous pregnancies, it is dangerous for our baby and for me to be very active in these final months.

The tour dates have already been rescheduled to the fall of 2011. The tickets you have bought will remain valid for the new dates which can be found on this page.

We understand that the rescheduling of our tour is a blow for you and we can only sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused as we very much appreciate the fact that so many of you have bought tickets for the shows early on.

We hope for your understanding and support and we'll do everything to make the upcoming tour the best you've ever seen from us yet!"
Sharon den Adel and Robert Westerholt had their second child, Robin Aiden Westerholt, on June 1st, 2009 and they also has a five-year old daughter named Eva Luna den Adel.

Due to people buying tickets early on for the original dates, shows in London, Paris, and Copenhagen were upgraded to bigger venues.
Due to the strong demand for tickets, 12 additional shows are added to the rescheduled European tour, which now kicks off on September 21st.
New shows in Portugal and the Czech Republic have now been confirmed as well.

The re-scheduled and new dates can be viewed HERE.

JIMI HENDRIX Film Documentary On The Way

A documentary based around Jimi Hendrix’s legendary 1969 gigs at the Royal Albert Hall is to be released next year.
The film will include footage from these shows, in February 1969, as well as from his European tour that same year.

Janie Hendrix (Jimi’s half-sister) president/CEO of Experience Hendrix, told Billboard...
“There were about four cameras that followed Jimi and the guys around in Europe and filmed the two concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as them coming off trains, planes and automobiles, signing autographs, Jimi backstage getting ready, in his apartment doing little apartment jams with his friends and then later playing the Speakeasy.”
The film is reportedly to be going to get a theatrical release, as well as being available on DVD/Blu-Ray.

There will also be a soundtrack album.

New U.D.O. Album Release Date Delayed

"Rev-Raptor", the new album from U.D.O., has been delayed until May 2011.

The German metal band led by former Accept frontman Udo Dirkschneider, have once again  pushed back the release date to May 20th, 2011.

The delay was caused by the back problems experienced by guitarist Stefan Kaufmann.
Stefan recently received medical treatment for his condition and had recovered enough to have played with the band on November 6th at the Rock Antenne festival at Schwabenhalle in Augsburg.

Seventeen new songs have been written for "Rev-Raptor", with eleven tracks expected to appear on the final cut of the album.

WITHIN TEMPTATION Announce New Concept Album Title

WITHIN TEMPTATION
Dutch symphonic metallers WITHIN TEMPTATION have announced, "The Unforgiving", as the title of their new album, due for release in March 2011.

This  concept album is said to be be based on a comic-book series written by Steven O'Connell and will feature characters and scenery by comic artist Romano Molenaar.

The band commented...
"On this album, we've taken a totally different approach. Each song on 'The Unforgiving' was written along Steven's narrative. The main characters of the comic are reflecting the characters of our songs. The concept pushed us and gave inspiration to come up with a new approach in our sound. It resulted in writing our best songs so far.
"We have been big comic fans since our childhood. With this album we felt the time was there to take a new step in our creative development, take it further and broaden our horizon. Next to the concept form of the album, the songs are more diverse than ever before. In addition, the music of the late '80s, that's when we started to read comic books, certainly has left a mark on our new sound."

IRON MAIDEN Set To Announce UK Shows?

A cryptic image on Iron Maiden's website seems to be hinting that UK dates are going to be announced on Thursday at midday.

An Iron Maiden Union Jack logo has been placed on the band's website saying that an announcement will be made this week.

Last week the band announced the first batch of dates on 2011's world tour.
This press release ended up by saying, "UK fans - don't worry, we most certainly haven't forgotten you... you're next!!".

There is no word as to whether the dates will be arena or festival, although it has been many years since the band's last arena tour so it is about due.

Will keep you posted.

"Classic Rock Presents: AOR" Magazine To Hit The Shops On November 17th

"Classic Rock Presents: AOR" magazine is a one-off special dedicated to the resurgent rock genre and is due to hit the shops on November 17th priced at £7.99.

However, if this mag proves to be popular could there be more issues in the future?
We’ve got a major melodic-rock exclusive for the cover story: Steve Perry, the legendary former Journey frontman, talking about the band’s pivotal album Escape – the record that gave the world the song Don’t Stop Believin’.
Elsewhere in the issue we’ve got a great mix of old’n'new: the likes of Night Ranger, Survivor, REO Speedwagon and Heart stacked up alongside Crashdiet, Reckless Love, Houston and Train.
There’s a sprawling feature on the Top 40 AOR Vocalists Of All Time, written and compiled by Derek Oliver, the renowned melodic-rock guru. Who’s No.1? Sir Michael of Bolton, perhaps? Brad Love of Aviary, even?! You’ll have to buy the issue to find out.
There’s also a free 15-track CD, Coliseum Rock, featuring Journey, Enuff Z’Nuff, Triumph, W.E.T., Issa, White Widdow, Bangalore Choir, Moritz and many more.
Geoff Barton, Editor of Classic Rock Presents AOR, said:
“With acts like Foreigner and FM on Radio Two, Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’ the biggest-selling download of all-time, and a wave of reunions and new artists, the genre that seemed terminally out of fashion is back.”
Classic Rock Presents AOR hits newsstands on Wednesday, November 17, with a cover-price of £7.99. The issue comes in a special cardboard wallet featuring an all-new, specially commissioned interpretation of Journey’s distinctive scarab logo. Plus, on the cover of the mag itself, there’s rare artwork from famed Bay Area artist Stanley (Journey, Grateful Dead) Mouse!

MIDNATTSOL - New Album Due Early Next Year

MIDNATTSOL
German-Norwegian band MIDNATTSOL will released their third album, "The Metamorphosis Melody", in early 2011.

The Folk/Metal band features vocalist Carmen Elise Espenaes, the younger sister of Leaves' Eyes singer Liv Kristine.
The CD was recorded at Studio E with producer Markus Stock.

With regards to the new album's title, Carmen states in a new video message (see below),
"On one side it stands as a great symbol for what we in Midnattsol have experienced in the last months since the release of our last album.

We've gone through a big change regarding band structure, and like you know, we've got a fantastic new guitarist, Alex (Kautz), and this had an immense influence on our music; I think you can hear that in the new songs. And at the same time it stands as great symbol for the individual change that each single member of Midnattsol has gone through, so it's like a personal change as well. But like on all our albums, there is a deeper meaning of the title as well, and the thing is that I don't want to reveal too much because I want you, the listeners, to make your own interpretations. But what I can say is that the new album should be an encouragement to change, both personally and globally.

All of the bandmembers in Midnattsol think that this album is the best album we have ever made, so I really, really hope that you feel that as well."
Midnattsol's first two albums were titled "Where Twilight Dwells" & "Nordlys" (translated: Northern Light) and were released via Napalm Records.

TRIUMPH Reissues Next Month

Triumph, one of Canada's greatest Hard Rock bands, will reissue ten of it's classic albums at the beginning of December.

Rik Emmett (guitar and vocals), Mike Levine (bass and keyboards) and Gil Moore (drums and vocals) were regarded as one of the best progressive metal bands of the 70's and 80's.

In fact their 1980's album "Progressions of Power" is still one of my top ten albums of all time.
My only regret is having never seen them live.

The official reissues of Triumph’s 10 classic albums, in digipak version and with the original tracklistings, will be released on December 3rd via Frontiers Records.

In The Beginning (1976)
Rock and Roll Machine (1977)
Just a Game (1979)
Progressions of Power (1980)
Allied Forces (1981)
Never Surrender (1983)
Thunder Seven (1984)
Stages (Live) (1985)
The Sport of Kings (1986)
Surveillance (1987)

All the CDs have been remastered and feature an extensive booklet including lyrics.
In addition, Frontiers will issue a very limited collector’s edition Box Set entitled “Diamond Collection” which will include all the 10 albums in vinyl replica, and will feature the artwork from the original vinyl edition of the albums.
