SLASH To Release Live Album

Slash will be releasing a limited edition live album recorded at his Manchester Academy show on July 3rd.

Only 1200 2CD sets will be produced with the album costing £20 and can be either ordered from SlashOnline or bought at the show itself.

These very special CD's will be fully mixed and mastered on-the-fly specifically for delivery to CD
 (not to be confused with a “board” mix).
The quality will be very close to a “studio” mixed live CD.

Slash's touring band includes Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy, Bobby Schneck on guitar; Todd Kerns on bass and backing vocals; and Brent Fitz on drums.

BENEDICTUM Finish Work On New Album

USA metallers BENEDICTUM have finished recording their third album with producer Ryan Greene at his Area 52 studio in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The CD features guest appearances by Rudy Sarzo and Craig Goldy.

The band's inger Veronica Freeman also worked with FOREIGNER bassist Jeff Pilson to produce some acoustic bonus tracks for the album.

The album is expected to be released by the end of 2010.

Benedictum have just signed a deal with a major European label (details to be announced soon).

The release of the band's new album will coincide with Benedictum's appearance at the Hard Rock Hell IV festival in Prestatyn, UK this December.

The band is also hoping to announce a series of UK dates around "Hard Rock Hell".

Ticket prices. Day tickets Friday - £17. Saturday and Sunday - £27.50 per day

"Draconian Times", the 1995 album from gothic metal band PARADISE LOST, will be reissued on vinyl on July 26th via Peaceville Records.

This vinyl edition is numbered and limited to 2000 copies and comes on double 180-gram burgundy-colored vinyl in a gatefold sleeve and printed inner sleeves and liner notes from the album's producer, Simon Efemy.

RONNIE JAMES DIO - Video Tribute

Bay Area Backstage have released a video tribute to Ronnie James Dio with a duration of around 32 minutes.

Dio was best known for his work with BLACK SABBATH, RAINBOW, HEAVEN & HELL and his own band DIO.

The uploaded video features an interview and performance clips that were captured over many years.

Ronnie James Dio died of stomach cancer on the morning of Sunday, May 16th, at the age of 67.

Dio was known throughout the world as one of the greatest and most influential vocalists in heavy metal history.

OPETH To Headline First Night Of The Bloodstock Open Air Festival

Swedish prog metallers Opeth will be headliners on the main stage for the first night of the Bloodstock Open Air Festival.

The band, who also topped the bill in 2008, return on Friday, August 13th.

HIGH VOLTAGE FESTIVAL Announces That Heaven And Hell Are To Stage Dio Tribute

The following special annoucement was made by classicrockmagazine.com on their website at 10am yesterday morning...

The surviving members of Heaven And Hell will play Classic Rock’s High Voltage festival with special guest vocalists, as a tribute to their late frontman Ronnie James Dio.
On May 16, Dio passed away and the world mourned the loss of the greatest voice of heavy metal.

Heaven And Hell were set to be on the road in Europe this summer when news came through that despite the amazing progress he was making Ronnie wouldn’t be well enough to tour and those shows were cancelled.

But now, remaining members Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Vinny Appice are set to play a one-off show to celebrate Dio’s life and work at Classic Rock’s High Voltage festival.

The band will be completed by Glenn Hughes and Jorn Lande, who will both contribute vocals.

Former Deep Purple/Black Sabbath star Glenn Hughes was a close friend of Ronnie’s for many years and performed a musical tribute at Ronnie’s funeral service in Los Angeles.

Norwegian Jorn Lande is best known in the UK as the vocalist for power-metal band Masterplan; he has also released many solo albums including a tribute to Ronnie.

Heaven And Hell bassist Geezer Butler says:

“It’s going to be a very emotional occasion. Ronnie loved his fans like no one else I know – and they loved him. It will be a privilege doing a gig in honour of his memory, and to help towards his charity. Above all, I hope it encourages people to have regular check-ups for this disease. Early detection is vital, and greatly improves the chance of a cure. I know everyone has heard that a million times before, but seeing one of your best friends die because we all think we’re immune from this disease, really brings it home. Do it for yourself, your family, your friends. Ronnie would be proud of you.”


Guitarist Tony Iommi adds:

“Ronnie’s passing has left a huge hole, we hadn’t anywhere near finished what we set out to do as a band together. He was so looking forward to the European tour and we hope this appearance will go some way to fulfilling that.”

Black Country Communion Announce Album Details

Supergroup BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION (Glenn Hughes, Joe Bonamassa, Jason Bonham and Derek Sherinian) will release their debut album on September 20th.

All the songs on the album are sung by Glenn Hughes, with the exception of "Song Of Yesterday" and "The Revolution In Me" which are  sung by Joe Bonamassa.
Hughes and Bonamassa share lead vocals on "Sista Jane" and "Too Late For The Sun".

DANZIG - New Songs Posted Online

Fan-filmed video footage of two new DANZIG songs have now been posted online.

They were recorded from the band's performance at the sold out Sweden Rock Festival, in Sölvesborg, on June 10th.

Three songs can be viewed below.
Included is a clip of the first-ever performance of the song "Thirteen" (which Glenn Danzig penned for Johnny Cash) as well as footage of two brand new tracks namely "On A Wicked Night" and "The Revengeful".

The latter two songs are from Danzig's first new studio album in six years, "Deth Red Sabaoth", which is released on June 22nd via Evilive/The End Records.

DIAMOND HEAD - "Live At The BBC" To Be Released Next Month

DIAMOND HEAD are set to release "Live At The BBC" which includes material from 1980, 1982 & 1993.

This 2CD of BBC recordings combines the band's "In Session" and "In Concert" recordings on one CD for the first time.

The set culminates in the Milton Keynes Bowl show, the night they opened for METALLICA in 1993 and includes their Reading Festival set from 1982, described by the band as "the peak of their career… as good as it got."

Footage Of RONNIE JAMES DIO's Last Concert Posted Online

Black Sabbath fan site Black-Sabbath.com have posted footage from Ronnie James Dio's last-ever concert with HEAVEN & HELL.

The concert took place on August 29th, 2009 in Atlantic City, New Jersey and the clip below is for the song "The Mob Rules".

The video was recorded with permission from the band, and is the final time that Ronnie ever took the stage.

Dio died of stomach cancer on May 16th 2010 at the age of 67.

CANDLEMASS To Reissue "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus" On Vinyl

Swedish doom metal band Candlemass will re-release their classic 1986 album "Epicus Doomicus Metallicus"  on vinyl at the end of June.

The album will be pressed by Peaceville on 180g blood red vinyl, in a gatefold sleeve with each copy individually numbered.

YES To Reissue "Keys To Ascension"

Yes are to reissue their 1996 live/studio reunion album "Keys To Ascension" as a single 4CD/DVD box set in September.

The original albums "Keys To Ascension" and "Keys To Ascension 2" were released in 1996 & 1997 with a live video also released at the same time.
The material was a combination of live classics and brand new studio recordings.

The albums saw Jon Anderson, Chris Squire, Steve Howe, Rick Wakeman and Alan White reunite for the first time in 20 years.

The album will be released on September 06th.

"RONNIE JAMES DIO Day" In Los Angeles

The Los Angeles City Council officially declared Sunday, May 30th "Ronnie James Dio Day."

The announcement was made at the public memorial service for the heavy metal singer who died of stomach cancer at the age of 67.

Eddie Trunk, host of VH1 Classic's "That Metal Show", read Paul Koretz's (Council member) official declaration to those 1,200 mourners gathered inside Forest Lawn's Hall of Liberty, as well as the hundreds more who crowded the courtyards of the Griffith Park cemetery.

Anneke van Giersbergen Performs Acoustically In Paris

Former THE GATHERING singer Anneke van Giersbergen recently performed an acoustic version of the song "Sunny Side Up" on May 22nd in Paris.
The song is from AGUA DE ANNIQUE's third album, "In Your Room", which was released on October 30th 2009.

The 12-song album was written by Anneke except for two tracks "Just Fine" (with Devin Townsend) and "Adore" (composed by the band's bassist Jacques de Haard and Cyril Crutz).

AGUA DE ANNIQUE has so far released three album namely "Air" (2007), "Pure Air" (2009) and "In Your Room" (2009).

AMANDA SOMERVILLE To Perform At SIRENS OF METAL II Festival

Singer-songwriter Amanda Somerville will perform at this year's Sirens of Metal II festival on August 13th at Blondies nightclub in Detroit, Michigan.

American, Amanda will be joined on stage by Sander Gommans (After Forever) and Paulo (Miles Beyond).

Kobra And The Lotus, Maxine (featuring Maxine Petrucci of Madam X), Des Demon, Publik Parking and Mound Road Engine are also set to appear.

Somerville was featured on Kamelots's "Ghost Opera" and toured with Avantasia. She released her solo album, "Windows", in 2008.
