Childline Rocks - Steve Harley Added To The Bill

Childline Rocks has added Steve Harley to it's line-up of artists.

It has also been revealed that the show will be available to buy on CD as soon as it ends.

On Monday June 01st (evening), one-time Cockney Rebel Steve Harley, will line-up alongside many other rock stars to play a couple of his best loved tracks with Thunder.

Anyone going to the show will be able to purchase a double CD on the night featuring all of the performances that they have just seen.

Thunder will also be selling live albums from some of their farewell tour shows.

All profits from the Childline Rocks live album will go to charity.

METALLICA To Release Live DVD's

Metallica have confirmed the details of their forthcoming new live DVDs.

Their website reveals that both the run of shows in Mexico and the one show in Nimes (France) will be recorded for new films that will be released in the future.

“There's been a little chatter here and there about us filming a few shows this summer for potential release on DVD and among the countless internet rumours, these ones are actually true! We thought it would be cool to document a few shows that are unique and sure to be extra memorable for us, and hopefully for you too . . . first up are the three sold out shows in Mexico City, Mexico at Foro Sol on June 4th, 6th, 7th and later this summer, we also plan to have the cameras rolling at the sold out show in Nimes, France at Arenes de Nimes, the historic Roman amphitheatre where we'll be on July 7th."

TONY IOMMI Goes "Face To Face" With RICK WAKEMAN

In a revealing interview "Face To Face" host Rick Wakeman holds court with his long time friend, Tony Iommi, who is best known as the founding member of Black Sabbath.

It is now over thirty years ago since Wakeman was asked to contribute his keyboard skills on Black Sabbath's legendary "Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath" album.

Lynyrd Skynyrd's New Album Will Be Called "God & Guns"

The new album from southern rockers Lynyrd Skynyrd will be called "God & Guns" and will be released on September 29th.

The album will be released on the Loud & Proud/Roadrunner Records imprint label.

It was recorded in Nashville with producer Bob Marlette (Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Black Stone Cherry) and features 13 tracks.

"God & Guns" is Skynyrd’s first set of new studio material since 2003’s Vicious Cycle.

The band have a short tour of the UK beginning on May 27th.
The tour looks to be going ahead despite the recent death of bassist Ean Evans.

SONATA ARCTICA - Mixing Of New Album To Begin Shortly

Henrik "Lance" Klingenberg of the Finnish melodic metal band SONATA ARCTICA has issued the following update about the bands forthcoming new album...

"Many... OK, let's not kid ourselves here, but at least some of you wonder how the (new Sonata Arctica) album is progressing. So far the drums, bass and rhythm guitars are done. Some weeks ago we had a meeting with the boys and among other things we decided which songs are going to be on the album and in what order. Hell yeah!! So we're right on schedule and....still have a couple of weeks until the mixing starts. Those dear days will be spent on working out the keyboard tracks, Tony's (Kakko) got a bunch of vocals left to do, we're still waiting on some guest 'tracks, etc. All in all we're once again excited as hell about the new stuff and if everything goes well you'll have a new Sonata album in your hands next fall."

The new material is "a bit darker and maybe not so complex as [2007's] 'Unia'. Nevertheless, it's definitely not a back-to-the-roots album with fast power metal. All the trademark Sonata stuff is on there, solos, lots of singing some slower songs."

Secret DAVE GILMOUR Gig

Dave Gilmour will join Mali musicians Amadou and Mariam onstage at a secret gig in London later this month.

Pink Floyd guitarist, Gilmour will join the duo at a secret venue on 25 May for a one-off collaboration.

The venue of the gig will be revealed to ticket holders 24 hours before it takes place.

LACUNA COIL Cancel Italian Shows

Owing to "scheduling conflicts," Italian rock band LACUNA COIL have cancelled it's previously announced club shows in the band's home country.

LITA FORD To Release First New Album In 14 Years

Lita Ford's "Wicked Wonderland", her first new studio album in 14 years, will be released in the Autumn on her own JLRG Entertainment label.

After a 15-year break from music, living on an island in the Caribbean raising her two sons, Lita also hits the road this summer playing select festivals and motorcycle rallies in America and Europe.

Lita is backed on the new album by Stet Howland (drums), Greg Hampton on bass/ rhythm guitar/keyboards & Jim Gillette (her husband) on background vocals.

After fifteen years in the Caribbean, "I missed playing rock'n'roll," she said.

Lynyrd Skynyrd's Bassist Dies

Ean Evans, bassist with Lynyrd Skynyrd, died two days ago aged 48.

Evans was born in Atlanta, Georgia and started playing music at a young age, before picking up the guitar at the age of 15.

After playing with local bands he was asked by guitarist Hughie Thomasson to join The Outlaws and finally joined Skynyrd in 2001.

Earlier this year, however, Evans was diagnosed with cancer and revealed that he would not be touring with the band during 2009.

Evans tragically lost his battle with the illness on Wednesday, May 6th.

After receiving a great response on their sold out theatre tour in 2008, WITHIN TEMPTATION have decided to do it all again next year. During these special seated shows the band will be playing a lot of their songs as acoustic versions with special lighting and visual effects.

Metallica Still To Tour Mexico

Although the outbreak of swine flu that originated in Mexico has led numerous musical acts cancelling performances there, Metallica are still scheduled to play.

Metallica has booked three concerts in Mexico City on June 4th, June 6th and June 7th with the latter two already sold out.

Although Mexico City is where the flu first surfaced, Mexican health secretary Jose Angel Cordova said on Thursday yesterday that the number of cases seemed to be stabilizing, which means the crisis could be passed by the time Metallica arrives next month.
